The Boston Tea Party
- On December 17, 1773, a group of Massachusetts colonists (Patriots) protested the tax on tea by taking over three tea ships that were delivered and threw the crates overboard.
- the colonists threw over 342 crates of tea
- the three ships that carried the tea were called the Dartmouth, the Eleanor, and the Beaver.
- It was first called the Destruction of the Tea.
- After it was over, the word got spread to other colonies and New York even celebrated for what Boston did.
- Not everybody liked what Boston did.
- Throughout the spring, people were criticizing the colonists for doing such an unlawful act.
- The government also punished Boston by closing their port.
