The Quartering Act
- Passed by British Parliament in 1765.
- British soldiers needed shelter for protecting the colonies and nobody would let them stay with them.
- Soldiers complained along with the commanders.
- After the Act was passed, colonists were required to give a home for British soldiers if they came to their door.
- Many colonists rebelled against it because soldiers would take over their homes.
- It was a huge disagreement.
- The colony that debated and rebelled the most was New York.
- New York bickered back and forth with England to stop this Act.
- It expired in 1765.
- It came about again in 1774, but it was less demanding.
