- Before the battle there were about 8,800 Americans, 7,800 French, and 6,000 British.
- After the battle there were about 500 British, 80 Americans, and 200 French.
- On October 19, with very low supplies of ammunition and food, Cornwallis marched out of Yorktown and surrendered to the Americans.
- The British finally surrendered to the Americans after about 6 years of fighting.
- The Americans broke off from England and got their independence.
- It took 2 years for the treaty of America and England to get signed.
